Friends Bright Minds

Dear Supporter,

FRIENDS OF BRIGHT MINDS COMMUNITY PREP, INC. is a nonprofit 501 3 C community based organization, incorporated in 2007 in Brooklyn, New York exclusively to provide charitable services and relief of the poor, distressed and the underprivileged. Additionally, our aim is to provide basic skills to community members (primarily adults) who seek to better their social, economic and educational condition. Obtaining basic skills will ensure the ability to achieve and obtain tangible employment that will ultimately affect the future of the family, community and the society.

In 2009, we suspended our efforts to start a charter school. From the very beginning we realized that this would be a prodigious undertaking that would require a tremendous amount of commitment and expertise. Although, we labored tirelessly in an attempt to form partnerships, disseminate information, network, and fundraise, it wasn’t for naught.

We continued to work on viable projects and initiatives; some of which included, staff development for teachers, parent workshops, community out-reach and counseling for the immigrant population. Additionally, we established an adult GED program where we serviced the community needs, by offering instructional support and one-on-one individual tutoring.

In addition, we made connections overseas, primarily in West Africa, where we conducted various educational workshops and trainings. We have made a commitment to assist children and young adults overseas and here at home. Seven seventy five million adults (15 years and older) still cannot read or write – two-thirds of them (497 million) are women.

We are asking for your help and support. Please help us sponsor children overseas with a small pledge of only $10.00 per month or discounted at $100.00 per year. If you would like to give more you have that option as well.
