Oftentimes, parents in the underserved communities are absent from the school scene. For whatever reason, parents are often too busy, too involved with other priorities, or just lack interest. Parents should know the name of their child's teacher, what grade the child is in and what the child has received for homework. If we want to produce competent students, parents must exemplify competent behaviors.
Teachers and administrators should not only hear from parents when their children are at risk of academic failure. It is the job of the parents to stay abreast.
It will inevitably take all stakeholders, parents, students, and community members to develop and inspire our kids.
